Like all of you, we’ve had our ups and downs, our moments of joy and sadness, and days when everything seemed to go right and then suddenly all of it fell apart. It is the nature of life. I would love to say that it is always easy or rosy, but we know that isn’t true or realistic.

I would love to say that this kind of culture only exist in sports, Hollywood, politics, or the business world. But the truth is that it happens consistently within the church as well.

I continue to choose joy, celebrate the wins, and heed the advice that chemo is not the enemy, cancer is the enemy. I know that I am not alone. I know that I am loved.

As much as we would love to get off this wild ride and be on stable ground, we realize we can’t. We have to go through the rough parts first.

How we respond, live, act, and treat others speaks volumes in the difficult days. Lead knowing that you are being watched.

These last few weeks have caused me to reflect on the idea of perfection. Is anything really perfect?

It’s taken me a long time to realize that I can do anything I want in this world. I do not have to stand in the background and just watch.

You see, the challenge for any leader is moving from the complex to the attainable, moving to actions that are replicable and being courageous enough to start.

Consider the actions of the common leader doing uncommon things. One of those is a deep belief and commitment to daily disciplines that are well-defined.

Have you ever stopped to think about who is really making the biggest impact on your life and leadership? I believe it is often the most common people in our lives who are making the biggest difference.

Today, I’m launching Collision Leadership. Simply put, it is my attempt and desire to continue the work of shaping lives, walking with others, and helping others to live their best.
